Former AMA MX/SX factory rider pleased with
his performance
CARLSBAD, Calif., (May 7, 2007) – Former Suzuki factory rider Sean Hamblin (Murietta, Calif.) scored
a season-best 7th place finish at the MXGP Series stop in Mantova,
Italy, this past weekend.
Hamblin, racing his first year
overseas, was the only American racer to place in the top 25 overall in the GP
Series’ premier MX2 class, going 8-9 in the two race format.
“I proved to myself that I have
nearly the same speed as the champion (Pourcel) because we were together for
many laps,” said Hamblin in a report from his Swift Suzuki team. “But it’s no
fun doing it in the pack. I need a start and I think I have the speed of
everyone else except, perhaps, Carioli.”
Hamblin said he really enjoyed
the Italian GP track and again re-stated his need for a better start if he
wants to move up with the series points leaders. “I gave the opposition too
much off the gate and the first few laps were really hectic back in the pack.
But I’m looking forward to next week. I just need to get those starts sorted
out.”
Next up for Hamblin and the
Swift Suzuki team is Germany’s Teutschenthal Circuit this Sunday (May 13th).
